Last night, I was telling Husband how happy I was that I was allowed to get out of bed for awhile every day. It was such a relief because I needed an emergency pedicure.
Because I couldn’t possibly give birth with my toenails not looking all nice and painted.
That would just be embarrassing.
He looked at me like I was totally insane. But seriously, girls, back me up on this. Maybe its about retaining a shred of my dignity by having nice toenails. Maybe its about wanting to look nice? Even though I will obviously not be at my best…
Did anyone else have to go get their toes done before they had their babies?

after much hemming and hawing (what exactly does that mean, anyway?) to cut my hair. It is really too long. And a bit ‘blah’. That’s mainly what is driving me nuts — I don’t have an actual hairstyle, beyond just “growing out that terrible, horrible, awful haircut I got 15 months ago.” Due to the fact that I am a regular person and not a movie star or something, my hair usually just ends up in a ponytail anyway.
Unless Ellie is doing my hair. Then I have many beautiful clips and bows and flowers in it.
So I’m going to my mom’s hair stylist today, who usually is the one who cuts my hair. (Yes, she is in Ohio. Does that tell you how often I cut my hair?) And I have a picture of the amazing haircut she gave me… 2 or 3 years ago? I can’t remember. But I totally loved it and it worked beautifully with my hair. So here we go! Buh-bye long hair!!
**update: Well, I’m only slightly in shock at the hair, but I think it will grow on me. I think I may have bangs, which worries me. I keep reaching up to touch it and going “AHH! Where’s my hair?” My camera is arriving tomorrow night from Switzerland (along with my husband) and I’ll try to get a picture up then!

I’m having great hair angst. (Again, tackling the big issues here at fun. crazy. life.)
I haven’t had my hair cut since last September. As in 2006. (Insert sound of my friend Hannahumma fainting here.) When we decided we were going to India and I realized that I would have a much greater chance of looking okay in the 3 zillion pictures my husband will undoubtedly take if I grew my hair long, seeing as I will not have my hairdryer. Or my flat iron. (sob!) Or even be showering all that often. The plan is to do the ponytail for the entire trip. Stylin’. They’ll be me.
But I’m totally, completely, utterly sick of my boring hair. I think I’d like to get it cut shorter again. Or should I keep it long and do highlights? I’ve always wanted highlights. But will they kill my hair? Ugh. I’m just stuck in a hair rut and its driving me crazy!!!!!

Our last hurdle to our trip to India is being jumped this week - visa applications. Today the girls and I went to get more passport pictures taken, which you need to apply for a visa. But this time, the girls smiled nicely and took great pictures (unlike their actual passport pictures). Why? Bribery. Donut bribery.

Remember the party Grace got invited to? With the professional invites? Its tomorrow and I just looked up where this girl’s house is. DANG. I’m very excited to step inside a house in this gorgeous neighborhood that I drool over every day as I drive past taking the girls to school. (Called “Wisteria Lane” — no joke!!!) Grace is really excited, though. Now I just have to pick out our outfits…..

Like purses.
I need a winter purse. I had a super-cute one, but it somehow has paint on it. (??) So I’m on the market for a new one. Now, this is a very important issue that is much, much more interesting than the upcoming presidential race, so be sure to give it some serious thought.

What do you think? Any more I should check out? Clearly, I’m thinking brown or red, fairly cheap. And I apparently like visible white stitching and buckles…..
p.s.
I think this was birthday money well spent, don’t you? I love that its orange. I can use it as a diaper bag later…

Two things came to my attention today:
1) I went out and got me a pedicure in honor of my birthday. I love pedis and hadn’t had one (well, a real one) in a full YEAR.
I was sitting in that massage chair, perusing In Style and sipping my Mocha Frappachino (with whipped cream. The baby needs whipped cream) and thinking, “I think I should do this more often. Like once a month.”
I am, after all, pregnant. I think some pampering is in order, don’t you?
(When I was pregnant with Ellie, my sister-in-law gave me several gift certificates for pedicures for Christmas. So I had one every month until she was born the winter. For future reference, you should give this gift to every pregnant woman you know, because it is much more useful than baby clothes!)
2) Me. A dance store. Buying outfits and shoes for my two little girls who are starting ballet next week.
This is a very dangerous situation and I fully realize it should not happen. I need supervision. Very similar to Husband will in the soccer store when the girls start soccer.*
*Funny side story, Husband seriously wanted to get Grace a very small (and, I admit, cute) $60 Beckham jersey for her birthday. Insisting that she would really love it and it would be a great gift. We went with the goldfish.
